when you brush your teeth while eating Oreos

Hey Friend!

It's been way too long! You'd think that during this whole "safer at home" version of life that we've been living for...how long has it been? Four months? Five months? Sooo long! Well anyway, you'd think that I'd have all this time to write and be creative. Ha! That did not happen! Needless to say, my creative mind has been poop the last several months. Not a pretty word I apologize, but life caring for two kids 4 and under while also being sickly pregnant with a third is exhausting (Prayers are appreciated!)

"Brushing your teeth while eating Oreos." -Unknown

I read that analogy earlier this year and it sums up how I feel almost every day. Please don't get me wrong though, I wouldn't trade being home with my littles for a second! If you don't quite get what I am trying to say here let me put it simply...trying to do anything "adult" while caring for two little ones is practically impossible. Likewise, brushing your teeth while eating those crispy on the outside, smooth on the inside little black and white cookies is simply impossible.

I just cannot keep up. There are always trucks in the middle of the hallway, the table is always sticky, there are so many band-aid wrappers lying around that it has me thinking someone, somewhere has been mauled by a bear and chose, instead of stitches, to fix themselves up with Paw Patrol band-aids the size of my pinky. And when I get a second to clean up some of what I just described, although the kids are out of my way for the moment, they are surely off somewhere finding rocks for their rock collection. Which sounds great right? Maaaybe. Except that I will soon find (after the "rocks" are in my house of course) that they are actually clods of dirt the kids found out in the sandbox. Bless their little hearts, but I just vacuumed up the crumbs from lunch so you know what? The dirt is just going to stay. Just like brushing your teeth while eating Oreos right?

Again...I am choosing to stay home with my kiddos and be a SAHM for a while so I LOVE this life with them. I just cannot get over how incredibly accurate the Oreo analogy is!

Alright, so I feel like I owe you all some explanation for the flip-flopping of where I house my blog.

Reasons I went back to my original site, A Typical Motherhood:

  1. This Wix platform is so easy, and I need easy. I thought life was busy and exhausting as a working momma of 2 but I think I am in for a shock when the time comes that Ryan goes back to work and I become a SAHM of 3! (Again, prayers are always welcome!)

  2. It's a free platform...I am all about free stuff!

  3. The name. It fits. If you don't know it already, you will soon see in this blog that we are not your average fam. Sharing our ideas and advocating for this atypical lifestyle is what brought me back to writing.

All that to say...

I am thrilled to share these next few entries with you. As the birth date of our little one approaches (October 1 is the official due date!!), I want to share some of the atypical choices we have made in the past (and will again). It's going to be unconventional, let me tell you upfront, but don't put me out as the crazy hippy lady just yet. 😉

See you soon friend,

And remember I...you...WE...don't got this. Let's not kid ourselves. But rest assured, God does.

A little something we love right now!

This is a new thing I am going to try with each blog entry. I want to share with you all something little, or perhaps big, that we are loving in our house right now. Hope you enjoy it!

Today it's this new balance bike we found that converts into a pedal bike. (If you don't already know about balance bikes for your toddler, you should totally check them out!) We wanted to skip the training wheels with the kids and I know that balance bikes are a good alternative. Our problem was that Cam's current balance bike (that he's been riding since he was barely 2) is built differently than the two-wheel pedal bike we have. So he was having issues making the transition. Enter Little Tikes Balance-to-Pedal Bike! We are hopeful this could be the ticket! He has only had it for a few days but we are hoping that when he gets comfortable with how this bike feels, we can take the pedals out (super easy to do by the way) and he'll be ready to go! Here is a picture of him zooming around our church's parking lot! (and yes I believe he purposely wore shoes and shorts to match his cool new bike ☺️)
